Kawani's World - About Me

In this area of my website you can find out all about me, who I am, my family and all that sort of stuff.

Who am I?

For starters, my name is Fiona. Though people who know me through the internet know me by my nick Kawani or its abbreviation, Kawa.

I am a thirty-something married woman, who is expecting her first child on 11 July 2007.

My husband, Brad, and I live in Central Queensland in Australia. We both work at the the local university but I will soon be leaving there as my contract is ending and because of the baby.

We have just bought our first house and are still in the process of unpacking everything, even though we've been here 3 months now. We're currently getting ready for the arrival of our baby, but you can read more about that story in my baby pages.

Hobbies and Interests

I have many and varied hobbies and interests. They include:

Literature:

I have a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English. I studied subjects such as English, Australian and American literature as well as European and myth and ancient literatures.

I love reading and prefer classic works such as Shakespeare, the Bronte Sisters, etc.

As well as modern works such as Fantasy, Stephen King.

While I enjoy the odd romance type novel, I do not like the Mills and Boons type stories, to me they are very tacky.

I also enjoy a well-historical novel such as stories about the middle ages or the Royals or convict Australia.

I have a large book collection. Some of which I've inherited from my great-grandfather, so there's a few first editions, etc.

Writing:

I am currently studing a Master of Letters in Creative Writing.

I am mainly writing fictional short stories at the moment.

I also write poetry and have had some of my work published.

Playing computer games

I enjoy playing the online game World of Warcraft - see my WoW pages devoted to this. My main character is a level 62 Nightelf Druid called Kawanim. In the past I have been known to become quite addicated to the game, however, at the moment I am taking a long break from it.

I also really enjoy playing The Sims and The Sims2, in fact I have nearly all the expansions. My favourite part is designing and outfitting houses, community lots and shopping areas. I do like to create people and families, but get sometimes get a bit bored with how slow things go at times. So I don't play them all the time, usually in fits and starts here and there.
